Motorguide 6700 Pro
Anyone know where I can get a replacement door knob for my Gatormount? It's the round kind, not the old rectangular kind.
By the way, my motor kept slipping down, i.e. too deep. I tightened the knob down as tight as humanly possible...I stripped the metal nut out of it. I eneded up putting a piece of bicycle tire innertube inside the mount door to help the mount hold the motor still. If any of you have Motorguides, is there supposed to be something in the clamp to help hold it?

I don't use a high end one, but mine has a rubber insert to keep the shaft from slipping.

I couldn't get mine tight enough either. Took the knob off and used a lug nut. Once I got the motor at the correct ht. I don't have a need to move it again, so I tightened it down to where it won't slide .....probably come back to bite me in the A$$ later don't cha know.....

Well, the rubber innertube seems to do the trick...I'll let ya know if it holds up for a fishing trip. I'm gonna keep a couple extra pieces in my boat just in case I have to do some emergency repairs.

I put no-slip tape on the shaft. The kind with gravel like surface.
Used for steps in resturants and kitchens. Lasted 8 years and I sold the boat. Capt Mike
