Fresh epoxy on the rods
I know I don't contribute as much as I used to around here, but I am still in the shadows lurking as usual. Between kids' activities, trying to keep my boat wet, and building rods, not much is left. But here are a couple of rods I really put my nose to the grind on and got finished while I have been home.
First: This is a donation rod for a gathering called Blessed of the Hunt that takes place annually at a local church. I saw the sign and just felt a conviction to build a rod for it. People see a lot of door prizes and what nots, and it draws a big crowd. But you never know, someone might be there that have never the heard a message and be touched (Matthew 4:19). It is on a Castaway 844 MH-MF blankand reelseat, Fuji Alconite guides, and EVA grips. I kept the wraps minimal because I had to finish it when I got home 2 weeks ago.

The second one is for a program out of TX that is called Rods For Soldiers. Builders receive the components, build the rod, and send it back to be presented. I got the idea from Walker and Joe, as they have participated in the program. I kept this one pretty simple too though. I just used some colors I have not seen on a rod before. Not saying there isn't one out there, I just haven't seen it. If you don't like it, blame JRob and Pancake. I sent them a picture of a guide with 2 different wraps and it was the winner. I am not sure of the blank specs other than it is a 7' H-F. I did some grip grooves on the lathe and a tiger wrap in front of the reel seat and left it at that.

And last, but not least, a build for Tanner (AKA Mean Gene). He picked out the set up and helped do some of the odds and ends. It is off of a Batson E-glass series, can't recall the model number right now, but it started out at 6'6" and I trimmed it down to 6'. It is a whippy rod and he can chunk his road runners and beetle spins with ease with his Zebco Omega.

They all turned out great! You definitely kept yourself busy this time around, seems like every time I talked to you you were working on rods. The RFS rod turned out really cool, it is very unique. All for great causes too. Nice work!

#2 is one of the better customs I have seen, really like the scheme.
How did you get the effect on the 2nd picture of the second rod?

Having trouble posting the link, but if you go to YouTube and do a search for Docski Tiger Wrap, it will show quite a few tutorials to accomplish the Throop/Tiger wrap. It is basically 2 layers of thread separated by epoxy to give it the effect.
