Lead Molding
Does anyone know how to make a mold for pouring lead? Looking to make a certain shape for a lure that is hot around here for tuna (i know bass fishing un-related , but others may learn from it for bass fishing ).

just carve it out of wood, when you heat up lead in the smelting pot, it won't be hot enough to completely burn up a wood fixture, it may get a tad hot tho....have ya priced lead? its expensive!

Thanks JB! I'm gonna get the lead from the tire place (free used tire weights) and use bank sinkers I buy, since it will still be cheaper when done that 10.00!

Do you have a master, I suppose you do, using the other Tuna lure. The easiest way is to get the Hilts kit, look them up on the web. Another option is to look at their, or Do-It's site to find a mold that's similar to the one you are looking for. There are a few other places as well, such as Collins Customs that you can look into.
As far as tire weights, be careful, water gets under the metal clips, water and molten lead DO NOT mix. |
