Hmmm.. Tach Stopped Working
I have a 1989 Ranger with a GT 150 . Sunday while I was fishing on Lake Tarpon , the tach quit working . Anything I should check or did the tach just die ?

I don't know about the Johnson, but on a Mercury when the tach quits, the engine is no longer charging the battery. I'd have it checked out.

There is ground wire on the power pack. It is on one of the attaching bolts. It may be broken or just rusty.

First things first. Check at the tach for a god ground and a 12 volt power. If that checks out you have to make sure it is on fact charging. If you have Lowrance units you can go to the digital screen and opt for the voltage to be shown. At idle it will be around 12.7........when running it should be around 13.5-7. If that checks out then the fun begins. Do these first and then we will get to the harder stuff.
