Powerdrive trolling motor
I see some of you guys run Powerdrive trolling motors; how do you like them for bass fishing? I've never been in the boat with one but I hear they don't respond very fast for fishing in stumpy areas and such. It seems they have some nice advantages/features though. What is ya'lls experience with them?

I am new here but I have a 24 v powerdrive on the front on a 182 Smokercraft. My dad has one on a Crestliner. I do not like them. It will be upgraded soon. There are four problems I have with them. First I can not tell which direction the motor is pointed without looking at it, with a cable steer you can tell by the angle of the foot pedal. 2nd, they are SLOW, not good for stumpy areas or going in to unsnag a bait. 3rd the motor to turn them wastes the battery. 4th, if you are not careful, you can spin the head around and around. I have had a buddy tear my transducer wires two different times by spinning the head around too much. I have been fishing on since 2006 and I still miss my old motorguide.
hope this helps, just my $.02 |
