Lunker hunting tomorrow
I'm heading out tomorrow to Flint Lake which is my favorite local water. I'm planning to be on the water by 4AM so I'll have a couple hours to work it before sunrise. But instead of looking for numbers of bass, I'm out for a pig. I have 6 rods, ready to go, but on one outfit, I'll be pitchin this offering in hope of getting a BIG bend in my rod. It's a 3/8 oz. Dirty Jigs No Jack Flippin Jig in green pumpkin craw. Added to it is a Reaction Innovations Double Wide Beaver with a green pumpkin top and orange brown belly. It measures 6 inches long and has a large profile to get that pigs attention. I'm going to be pitchin it into any form of cover I come across. Lilly pads, logs, piers, floating platforms, pockets and edges of mid depth weedbeds, and so on. It's a naturally formed lake, without any inflowing water. So there are no creekbeds, or submerged roadbeds or anything like that. I think I'll get just the right sinking speed and action I want with this presentation. At least I hope so!

Yep.....there's one thing about using a lure like that. If you get a bite, you know you've got a big one. Good luck, amigo.

Yeah, when it comes down to it...it's just a 3/8th oz. jig, albeit, a large profile. What's it sink rate?
If ya want a large profile lunker killer that is nearly weedless, and can be used very similiarly to a jig... http://www.316lurecompany.com/baits/mission_fish.html http://www.swimbaitnation.com/videos...6-mission-fish |

Ok, I'm glad to say I landed two bass on the jig. Unfortuantely they were only about 14 inches long, lol. The jig worked perfectly though, and the weight was exactly what I needed. Both bass were caught by swimming the jig through sparse grass using the rod tip to make it dance a bit. Dragging it on the ground, and pitching in tight to cover produced zilch. It was a tough day fishing with post frontal conditions and bright sunny cloudless skies. Both fish were caught just at sunrise. BUT, I did catch a pig, but not a bass. See it in the bragging section.
