Looks like some of us would be well served to focus on smallies
Look at KS....if you think blue hasn't seen these #'s...think again

**these #'s came from LBF.com ...please feel free to ck them for accuracy**

**edit** dang if blue just catches a 5lb SM he's at 72.7% I'd need to weigh a LM over 12.5 just to tie. I regret doing the math on that. Jeeze Louise can anybody spell parity
Wow I missed all this, I'm flattered really We do have some pretty paltry state records. I wouldn't worry too much about the whole 5lb smallie thing though, I've only caught 3 5 pound smallies in the last 7 or 8 years, most recent one was 2 years ago. I sure would have liked to have caught that 7 1/2lb largemouth I caught in January during the contest, that's the second largest bass I've ever caught in Kansas so reaching that mark again is a pretty tall order

You ARE #25 and considering where you fish, you've got a better than average chance.......just stay out of GA.Plus there are 5-6 guys lurking in the shadows that aren't going to commit until the last minute.

Apparently, the only lake in MS with smallmouth is Pickwick, and it's a good 4-5 hours from me. So I guess I better start hunting a 10 pound largemouth.....that'll put me at 55%. 11 pounds would be not quite 60%.
I'm screwed.....

Indiana is screwed for LM too. Thanks to the stupid record being caught from a private farm pond. It's bigger than KY or TN. That should tell you what a joke it is. And both KY and TN claim the world record smallie as their state record. I am triple screwed.

I am thinking about a trip to Lake Biwa....

My sentiments exactly Bryce. That record bass in Indiana should never have been allowed. If it's not public water, it shouldn't count. Just my opinion though. And to top it off, if I remember correctly, that bass was caught by a gal from another state who had never fished a day in her life before! UGH!!!

Totally agree.

In Michigan, records can only be taken from public waters

Ok, maybe I do have a chance. Look what was caught at Pickwick the other day....12 pounds, 8 ounces.

I just figured it up....that would be a 69% fish. I might have a chance with one like that.

KD, That brought back some memories. Loved that show. Chuck Conners actually played major league baseball also.

We used to enjoy "The Rifleman" too. What sport did Chuck Really play?

John if you catch

an 8lb 4oz LM thats 132 oz...divided by 264 = 50%
a 12lb 6 oz fish equals 198 oz divided by 264 = 75%

Who really knows what it will take to win? I'm planning to just go fishing as much as I can in places that I KNOW hold double digit fish. Out of the 25 or so of us that are playing a couple won't pay and probably only 1/2 or less will bother posting any fish or face insurmountable "challenges" with a good picture.

Don't sweat the math if you get a good picture of the scale reading Jrob and stick I'm sure will be happy to calculate the %.

I'm fully expecting to get a call from you this spring or summer, they're doing some major remod's on the RR around here. I promise to put you on some quality fish! the rest is up to you>

I got a ? Does it have to be caught in state of residence as many would travel like on vacation and possibly catch one in sc or ga,of course percentage of that state would apply.

Correct, the state you caught it in would apply. If you know you're going out of state and will be fishing, let us know beforehand if possible.
