A really cool video from Fuji
This is a video from Fuji, in support of their new K-R Concept guide systems. It shows comparisons of how line flows through different guide configurations. The slow motion video is really something to see. This is very long but worth it if you're into this sort of thing.

No sound at all, I turned my speakers up like 3 times thinking I should be hearing something.

That was pretty cool!...I wonder how they shot the line off in a fixed position?
That would save me a trip to a church parking lot, haha!

I want everyone to pay attention to one aspect of that video they (purposely) do not highlight...
When the line is supposedly choking, blank slapping, etc... is the line towards the tip of the rod taut? If it isn't, there's no way these supposed problems are reducing casting distance. Because unless the line is taut, the force on the lure due to the line is almost zero. These problems occur mainly due to the mass (and resultant momentum) of the line itself. Only during the first couple tenths of a second of a cast does the line restrict the lure's travel. These problems are merely the result of the lure having slowed down due to wind resistance, transition to vertical motion, etc. Since the line has less wind resistance than a typical lure, it takes a little longer longer to slow down...hence the traffic jam at the first guide. These issues are magnified with a baitcaster due to spool momentum.
