The Avalanche needs a new starter battery, the old one says it's a 675 CCA and 140. (Not real sure what the last number means do you?) Of course I'll start the motor with it, but I also run two depth finders and my boat lights when night fishing. It has a everstart in it now, and it was in the boat when I bought it a little over 3 years ago. Does the AGM or GEL cell batteries last that much longer to warrent the price they sell for in your opinion? If it matters my battery tray is 11 1/2 in length. Also I use my boat about every weekend too, from March to November, or untill it get into the 40's outside.

Stay with the same battery.. and replace with same. Save 150 bucks right of the start.

I got lucky and got 2 blue tops for 62 dollars this year. They were marked wrong on the shelf and the store honored the shelf price.

BTW, once I got up today, and we worked on the boat, found out I got a 800CCA and 1000 MCA battery for my 85 bucks, so I was happy about that.

Nice price that is cranking amps, and about three years is max on 2 year batteries, and only if slow charged and fluid level checked often(wet acid).

I have a 1000 CCA Deka (white in color) cranking battery and have had it now for 5 years. It's still going strong and have done no maintenance.

lilmule, I've had motorcycles since 82, so I know to check fluid levels often (on my boats I check in the fall), plus I've never had a battery give up in 3 years. (Now of course I just jixed myself) LOL
