umm as the person who probably fished murray the most and the most recently.... 13 hours over the weekend.... um i would take to start out on my rods : 1: shaky head 2: jig (buckeye 1/2 or 3/8) 3: jerkbait... there is a lot of bait back in the coves 4: a shallow/medium diving crankbait... crankbait got to turn on sometime now 5: your confidence bait.... whatever you have complete confidence in.... hope you have fun
might see you out there .... fishing a Fishers of Men tournament there Saturday

well not everything. here at smith lake in alabama the water is crystal clear with clarity around 10-20 feet at times. i use white and alot of chrome in that kind of water. also natural colors, green, brown, etc.

ohhh yeah up the river will be warmer but the clarity will be less... way up the river it will be the warmest and very muddy..... down at the dam it will the coldest but the most clear ..... maybe like 5 feet or more... been 2 and 1/2 weeks since i have been near the dam

I would use a slow rolled spinnerbait with BIG double Colorado blades, if you can't find a spinnerbait with super huge blades, buy some separate blades, and than add them to the bait. I'll also add jig rattles if the water is super murky like in your case.
Get the biggest profile bait (with out going over board, try adding multiple skirts, I have not tried this but it sound like it would work). Hope this works, Good luck and good fishin!

listen to Bamma
stick to your brown's blues basically your dark colored lures also you want things that will rattle and make noise, for my spinnerbait I would use a indiania blade with a colorado blade use something that will get the fishes attention. Don't limit what you think will work try everything

45 through 55 degrees the bass will be sluggish so you want a slow moving baits. My pick: #5 or #7 shad rap or a small flat non rattle cranks finesse jig w/ non aggressive trailer finesse worm jighead tube finesse spinnerbait if windy |

a jig for sure, probably a finesse jig or football jig with a finesse skirt and probably with a super chunk for a trailer. also maybe a suspending jerkbait and if the wind picks up a spinnerbait as well.

In dirty water I trow reds lures for craw fish and chartruce lures for blueguills and whites for shads and gold blades on your spinner baits

I was there last April and everything we caught was on a Green Gourd Zoom Finesse worm fished on points and around docks.
We caught about 35 the day we were there that way. |

Murky, eh?
I would start out fishing a 1/2 oz. chartreuse Colorado bladed spinnerbait. The thumping of the blade, and the commotion will turn even the weariest bass on to it. 1/2 oz. is for a bigger profile, and chartreuse gives the bass something to look at.
If that doesn't work, throw a buzz bait in the early morning. The top water bite should be turned on by now. Early morning/late evening are the best times to get bass on top waters. Still not satisfied? Throw a power worm in a red color with glitter. The glitter gives a little more flash than the regular ole red. Motor oil is another good color, if available. On another rod, i would bring a Lipless crankbait. You've fished the top of the water column, now you want the deeper end of the deal. Throw a 1/2 oz. Strike King Red Eye Shad, a Cotton Cordell Super Spot, or a Bill Lewis Original Rat-L-Trap in some kind of wounded shad pattern. Bring a deep diving crankbait. A Strike King or Rapala DT series. Something green, yellow, or red. |
