today went ok, filled out paperwork for half a day while watching safety films. then went to the truck shop and swept floors till the shop foreman told the head mechanic ot "take him for a test drive and see if he REALLY knows how to drive a truck". uuummmm, i HAVE a cdl but it's cool. so i get in the truck and man is it DIFFERENT. THESE TRUCKS ARE HEAVIER THAN AN 18 WHEELER empty. SO IT'S A CHALLENGE FOR CERTAIN. but i passed the "test drive" and i will ocntinue to train for the rest of the week. then we'll see where they send me. i was told that i would probably be going to the carolinas, tenn, kentucky and so forth for the first trips. so far it's looking good gang. i'll keep ya'll updated as it goes. thanks for the prayers and well wishes.

Glad to hear some good news John. If you're ever around our area (and you will be going from Chicago to NY), make sure you give us a call and pay us a visit.

I promise OYU GUYS. if i am in YOUR area, i WILL CALL. ofund out today that i WON'T be driving my PERSONAL truck to the job sites. so it MAY be that YOU will have to come to where i am. sorry. like i said, this is all new to me. they haven't told me EVERYTHING yet. guess they want to wait and see if i pass their RAIL SAFETY class before they tell me EVERYTHING. but i talked ot a guy who does the "clean-up". he said not to worry too much , they try to scaire oyu in the beginning, not tell you much till they know you can learn and are willing to stay with it. i'm like, "hey...i NEED to make a LOT OF MONEY.....LIKE NOW." hahhaa. so i am "in" for at least 10 years then i can retire fairly comfortable. at least that is the "plan". i'll fill ya'll in as i go i swear. i htink i'm gonna like it except for being away from home for 3 weeks at a time. but i am off for a week....so that will be good. weeks vacation every month is how i am looking at it.

I tell you, I read an article earlier on south dakota, made me wonder what I could do in a place like that (lots of energy $) floating around. We live in a time where you have to go where the jobs are at.

John, I am glad that it's going so well for you. I know it's gonna be tough at first being away from home but you'll get used to it, and the money will be great.

John, what they are not wanting to tell you yet is the location of your first job site.
