Ever find your cart ahead of the horse?
Thats and old expression my Dad always used, but it is kinda what happened to me this afternoon....I've been prepping and painting a few old crankbaits that Bama gave to me awhile back, and for some reason I suddenly felt the need to clearcoat them today, and the next thing ya know I'm clearing away when I suddenly wake up and realize these baits weren't ready for clear yet!!!!......I hadn't applied or painted eye's, I hadn't painted kill spots or gills, and in a couple of cases I hadn't finished darkening the backs or lightening the belly..........What the heck was I thinking???
Well, actually I'm pretty sure I know.....We had a friend of the family attempt suicide last nite and he's been on my mind all day......I'm pretty sure thats how I ended up workin in a daze and ended up with my cart in front of my horse....lol.....Guess I'll be sanding them back down later and add the final steps....DUH!!....They sure are pretty freshly cleared aren't they?....hehehe.

Yep......All paint and clear are automotive urethanes.....I've got alot to learn about painting these small lures....I'd much rather prep and paint a helmet or Harley tank....lol....I like the size better....My hands cramp up when I mess with these lures for long periods...specially during sanding....Ugh.
PS...Thanks for the prayers Marc...Thats really appreciated bud.

First off, I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your friend. Hopefully, with the help of friends and family and a lot of support, your friend will come to a happier point in their life and reach out for others. My prayers for them also pal.
Secondly, maybe you put the cart before the horse, but dangit man, they look good as is! Especially the two at the top. I bet they woould catch bass just as they are.

Michael,
I'm so very sorry to hear about your friend, and I will be sure to lift him and the entire situation up in prayer. Your work looks awesome, even if you missed some steps before the clearcoat. Like Keith said, I bet some of those would catch plenty of fish just the way they're painted now! Dean |

As a matter of fact I did take a group photo before I started prepping them....the only ones I didn't mess with were the Lazy Ikes.....They do look a bit different then when you sent them huh?

Awesome work Michael and I will be praying for your friend. That second almost looks like the bait I posted a week or so ago that I am on the hunt for. Again, awesome work man. Ome os them looks like an old bayou boogie, I haven't seen those in years.
And with any kind of craft, rod building included, I have put the whole wagon train in front of the horse before. DOH!!!!
