What size spinnerbait do you use the most?

most of the time 3/8 but 1/4 is second choice, I have a lot heavier ones like 5/16 or 1/2 ounce. The double willow 1/2 ounce in white with split tail trailer is a hot blade over at the amish country lakes in south central ohio. Ya can't fish them slow enough in clear water, yet the bass whack the heck outa them

Ya, I fish ponds most, that's why I use 1/4oz most of time, but when I'm at a lake, or a big canal, I'll use 3/8oz.

3/8 oz. mostly for lake/reservoinr. 1/2 oz mostly in tidal water when the current is running. Rarely do I throw any a spinnerbait less than the 3/8.

Mostly 3/8 and 1/4. However, I've been experimenting with making my own over the past couple years and I have been using 3/4 oz size heads with smaller blades to give me a spinnerbait that will work the deeper weedbeds and edges. So fars it's worked out great.

3/8 oz followed by 1/2 oz cover all my needs. Worked correctly I can get them down on the bottom and then slow rolled.

I use mostly 3/8 oz, but go to 1/2 if the fish are really acitve or I am in heavy cover, and will drop down to 1/4 if the water is really clear or I am fishing it really slow, in that case I sometimes go up a blade size or two.

There's really not that much difference between half ounce and 3/8th. I'm guessing 3/8 is the most for me, but I do use 1/2 and 1/4 a lot.
I have used 1/16th before with success for spots. Someone makes a 1/16th oz spinnerbait, fixed hook (not a beetlespin) with a feather hackle skirt for crappie.

I have got to go with the 3/8 as far as being a majority in my box. I throw a 1/4 some times though.

3/8 almost exclusively for reservoirs. Soft entry. I can fish it high or on the bottom. I can pitch it or roll cast it well. Very rarely I'll use a 3/4 to slow roll on the bottom in cold water.

1/2 If the fish are knocking the small shad out of the water then i will go smaller. The thing with going smaller is you catch alot of whites and channel cats that tear up the bait. That is the lake i fish most now.

I use 1/2 oz. but make my own so I use the size blades you would normally use on an 1/8 or 1/4 oz. bait, usually a size 3 or 3 1/2.

Varies, but as of late I've leaned more toward at least 3/8 and often use 1/2 ozzies. Accuracy and wind penetration are the main concern and the heavier the better in that effort.
Also; The heavier spinnerbaits allow one to slow-roll and/or fish at greater depths. This is often a challenge, especially with Colorado, Indiana, or Oklahoma blades unless you match the weight and retrieve to the task...and THAT reminds me; I normally use a REVO 7:1 SC model (The red one from Cabela's) for my spin and buZZZZZZZZZZZ baits but I'm beginning to think a much lower ratio...5:1 or 4.7:1 come to mind...will be better suited to slow-rolling and maintaining depth. Winter bassin' and Summer night fishing are the situations wherein the slower reel, hence the lower speed of retrieve, should improve catches. This is assuming that, like many, a person has some sort of built-in cruise control that causes him to crank at the same rate most of the time...regardless of gear ratio. I own 'zacky ONE green 'Rado in 5:1 and it's dedicated to larger cranks at the moment but I may drop in a spool of braid and see if my theory as stated above proves correct. 'Course, it'd help if I got to phish more often. Lancer6 |

I usually use the 3/8 oz....sometime, depending on the strength of the wind and if I want to keep it higher in the water column, I'll use 1/4 oz......
