What Color!?! When?
Is their an easy guidline to determine what colors are best for baits (soft plastics mainly. cranks, spinnerbaits, jigs) when the waters clear compared to murky?
or even just about the weather... rainy, overcast, sunny, hot, cold, windy, no wind, strong current (river), no current, foggy, clear, and anything else im missing. Are there main 2 colors to stick to for each type of tackle so you dont buy 6 diff colors and just experiment? Basically I want to know the color to use for baits in diff weather situations Can you help? Thanks Chris |

Being that I used to fish in pa armchair I can help you out on this. I used to fish THE PACK and caught my fair share of bass as well as won several local tourneys. Anytime you are faced with clear water and also pressured fish as you are most of the time in pa go with natural colors. They ALWAYS produce in those situations. Now there is exceptions to the norm as always. Everyonce in awhile when the fish dont seem to want anything go completly opposite. For instance a chartruese spinnerbait with chartruese blades. IT DOES WORK especially on smallies. Looks like a chartruse bomb went off on the end of your rod but has been a producer at times. I have Always started off with the more natural colors...the various shades of watermelon, brown etc and then if nothing is working thats when I go wild on em.

My favorite colors for tikis are Watermelon/Chrt. and Christmas tree. My favorite color worms are Watermelon seed, Chameleon, Cotton Candy, and Junebug. Tequila Sunrise and Red shad are also on my list of the best colors.................... Whatever works for you use it......... To find mine I just tried stuff and I found what worked and what didnt.................

I mainly fish murky waters, so this wont help much, I stick mostly to chartreuse and firetiger.
I just had to point out that your name was AirMcnair, not Armchair, lol. Go TITANS! even though they will most likely suck this year |

Don't get me wrong, they are my team too so im not crackin on ya or id be crackin on myself too. I just can't believe how many players we lost, it will definitely be a rebuilding year. I don't doubt Fisher can pull anything off so I'll still be there cheering every game! Remember the Music City Miracle!! Uh huh.

I was referring to Mr. 1FASTLASER
But yea we can suprise everyone... Mcnair is in the best shape of his life... Chow is a serious upgrade at O Coordinator. Calico could become a Pro-Bowl type reciever if he stays healthy, and Travis Henry and Chris Brown are in our backfield.. Talk about a 1-2 Punch. Big probelm is the Defense.. and stubborn old Pac-man didnt help by holding out.. My prediction.. 8-8 id b satisfied Chris |

I hear ya, im not too worried about the O either. And don't forget about Bennett now, he had quite a few good games last year. But then again Mason was still there.
Our Defense though, man I don't even want to think about it. 8-8 that would be great... considering... Should be an interesting preseason game tonight.. 7:30 |

For two colors of soft plastics, I'd get an opaque dark color, like black or green pumpkin and a natural translucent color, like a pumpkinseed. You can use the latter in clear water and sunny conditions, and the former in darker water, darker skies.
For crankbaits, I'd get a firetiger and a natural, such as shad. For spinnerbaits, I'd get a translucent or white plus a white/chartreuse or chartreuse. However, I have constantly seen bass take colors other than what we think they should take and I have my doubts about if all the thinking about colors actually results in more bass.
