Several days late and at least a buck short
So for the last 2-3 years, I've had a dream. Actually...I've had several, and still have them.
The first involves me winning the lotto and buying a fishing lodge. I've got some incredible ideas on that, but...yeah..... Another...and much more possible dream....is to open a BBQ joint. I even have an ex GF who wants to start a business, but can't decide what kind. She thinks she should back me in a restaurant. Then again...she also swears up and down I should open a bait shop with food called Mike's Master Baits....she thinks she's funny...... So anyways...now that the set up to this story has pretty much run it's course...I've come up with the best name ever for a BBQ joint. To put you in the right frame of mind....ask yourself a couple questions: Where is beef and pork stored? How is it stored? If you come to the proper conclusion, you'll come up with Off The Hook BBQ! I was gonna look into trademarking the name....did a search...there already is one......this is just like the time I came up with mixing Capn Crunch peanut butter flavor with cocoa puffs....thos Reese's bastards beat me to it Sigh...................

Mike,
The only good part about losing a dream is that it makes room for a new one. Now back to your thoughts on the restaurant. This one MAY be more achievable than you think. So not to waste everyone's time here, PM me if you have an interest. Only thing I'll warn you is, owning a food service joint isn't for everyone. But when it's a fit....it is ABSOLUTLY the best. Keep your dream going and now you got room to add a new one.

First we need a sample of your Q to make sure it's bone suckin, sauce soppin, bread moppin good. Only then can we come up with a catchy name for your joint. I always wanted to open up a bar b que joint. I used to cook at firemans fairs around here back in the 80's. Loved to do it. Sorry I never did open a place. You must really love to cook to do this. Would really like to try your sauce. Around here that's sometimes more important then the meat. Mostly the local places go with a tomato/vinegar based sauce. As opposed to the thick sweet sauce styles. I hope you really do open a place. I'd come up and try it.

mike....i have been thinking and thinking of a name for you bud. but right now i haven't CUM up with anyting, hahahahaha!
but for real man, sorry the nme is already taken. now as for sauces, i "doctor up" a bottled sauce for my stuff. daniel ahs tasted it. he "said" he liked it. don't know if he was being NICE or if he REALLY did like it. i have wanted to make my sauce from sctatch too. but that take a long time with many fails to do. i HATE vinager based sauces, the vinager takes over in my opion. i like sweet sauce sometimes and i love a rich smoky heavy sauce with a little punch after it goes down, a little ZING if oyu will. SWEET BABY RAYS is a good sweet sauce, but my "doctored up" sauce starts with BULLS EYE, then i add stuff to it. not telling what i add though hahaha. as for my pork, my favorite is the PORK SHOULDER, boston butts are ok but not my favorite cut of meat. oyu will find that different rubs are what make the meat taste good. i have several rubs i use for different things, like pork, chicken, etc. i obught a book at BPS on rubs, sauces and marinades. it comesin REAL handy. next time oyu are there, look them over, they have several books for you to choose from. keep "pulling" for a name pal. and don't give up.

I found a recipe for homemade bbq sauce online somewhere, just to get a place to start from. The main part is ketchup, then paprika, brown sugar, some mustard, honey, several other things. I added a few ingredients, left out one or two (like vinegar....I'm not a fan of that, either) and changed the proportions of some others. It turned out ok, I think. I poured some Sweet Baby Ray's in one jar, and mine in another, and didn't tell anybody which was which. There was the same amount left in each jar after all the food was gone, so I reckon it was pretty good....

Yes. Yes, we do. Others may not agree, but as long as we're happy, who cares?
