Lowrance HDS Gen2
Ok, who has one of these on their boat? What's your thoughts? I am looking at possibly getting a deal on an 8, but am a little reserved as the more I talk with other fishermen who have them and reading a ton of reviews it appears that they are littered with bugs/issues. I personally have a friend who is removing an hds8 and 5 from his new BassCat and going with Humminbirds. He offered me a great deal on the 8, which has already been replaced once this year due to power issues. Does anyone know if the warranty will transfer?

Yes, the original warranty transfers at no cost. You just need a copy of the original Proof of Purchase from where the original owner purchased the unit from the dealer, or a copy of the boat invoice if the units came installed in your buddy's BassCat. Otherwise, the warranty period is based off of the date in which Lowrance shipped the unit to the dealer.
HDS Gen2 units are great units with larger processors compared to Gen1. Sure, there are the occasional issues, but overall these units have been very reliable. There were some bugs in the 2.0 software, but all were corrected with the 2.1 software released about a month ago.
