If I was to buy a new trolling motor today, I'd get one that has the remote "wireless" foot control. You can be in the back of the boat and still be in control. There've been a few times when someone in the back complained that I was hitting all the good spots and that's why he wasn't catching anything. (I was intentionally NOT hitting the best spots I'd see ... and then inwardly groan when he didn't make the cast to those spots)

Anyway, when you let such a person up front, they suck at maneuvering the boat! With the remote, you could let them try the front, and still be controlling the boat from the rear.
