Best Place to Retire for Bass Fishing
My wife and I are looking for the bass fishing paradise for retirement. I want to be able to step in my boat and go. We desire to be near a dtown where with good restaurant options, shopping and medical facilities. We want to be within 2 hours of a larger city with a good airport. We would prefer to live in a subdivision that has its own fitness center, trails and activities. Most importantly we must live on one of the best bass fishing lakes in the country. We prefer Arkansas, Texas or Missouri, but would not rule out other areas. A little advice will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
Take a look at NE Texas-there are some great bass lakes up there, and the DFW Metroplex isn't too far away.

Welcome,
I would definately vote for Floida, in particular the O'cala National forest area. Lakes, and lakes, and lakes, rivers, and rivers, and very big bass, whcih I caught 4 over 10 lbs this year, my first year here, got down to FL late in 2005. Within 2 hours or Jacksonville or Orlando, and lot's of subdivisions going up as we speak. Lizards

I'll put my 2¢ and say ky lake, its plenty big and runs the entire length of ky and goes to tenn...plenty of huge crappy, smallmouth, and largemouth.
One side is all natural, the other side has nice houses and plenty of coves the size of small lakes. |

I think Hot Springs Arkansas is the place you are looking for. Here are some websites to look at. http://www.ci.hot-springs.ar.us/ Lake Ouachita is very close to Hot Springs and in my opinion "bass fishing heaven". Heres the link http://www.lakeouachita.com/

I'm with JB and am also gonna say KY Lake. Good fishing, and Paducha is a pretty decent town.

I am with Zooker on this one.Stay the hell out of the Finger lake, region 8 here in NY State. We got more people fishing here than I would like.Stay South, in the land of sweetened tea, hushpuppies, and Catfish houses. Enjoy the boiled peanuts you buy along the roadside. The fish are bigger down there too. Lmao.....P N J

I was going to say Hot Springs as well but got beat to the punch. Haven't fished Ouchita but have spent some time on Hamilton which is nearby. And downtown has a lot of cool places to visit, very historic....

I agree with jb and ilbass. Kentucky/Barkley lake is a great area. You are 2 hours from Nashville, 2 hours from Evansville, IN, 3 hours or so from St. Louis, 3 hours from Louisville. By the way, Paducah does have a small airport (American and northwest) There are some really good (nice) resturants in Paducah and the lakes area. Assuming you stay away from the chain places. I live in Paducah. If I can help in any way please send me a message. The fishing in the lakes is great for crappie, bass (large and small), bluegill. When I was younger, all I wanted to do was move away from this area. Once I got to college, all I wanted to do was move back. If I can help, please let me know!
