Dirty Bass Hooker
Well finally after two years of on an off summer weekend work hauls, My dad and I finished our jon boat modification. Completely gutted an '82 (I think) 12 foot Oauchita and turned it into the newly dubbed Dirty Bass Hooker (lettering to go on tomorrow). We gave it a new paint job (black w/ red stripe), made a deck, floor and siding (all carpeted), storage hatch, two swivel seats, and a Minn Kota Edge 45 foot pedal bow mount trolling motor. All thats left is extra accessories: lights, rod holders, fish finders, etc. Oh yeah, and a trailer. It currently sitting on our other boat's trailer, and we plan on launching it from it on the ramp .5 mi down the road.
She currently has a 4 hp Mercury on it, but we're gonna upgrade to a 9.9 to compensate for the added weight from the mod, and overall just to make it faster. I was wondering should I just get another Mercury or does another company like Honda, Yamaha, Envinrude, etc. make a better 9.9. Whats your opinion? I hope many good years of fishing are ahead for her Here she is: |

FANTASTIC job jersey!! she looks like a brand new rig
as for a different brand of motor....in my opion it's a ford-chevy-dodge thing. go with what you like and can afford.

Excellent job. I've done several tin and glass mods over the years and I really enjoy it. Got any before/after picks?

What an amazing trasformation! It looks great. I can't answer your outboard question though. Any motor I've used about that size seemed to work about equally.

Looks sweet. I love mods like this too(I did a 14' grumman). Perfect for Round Valley. One question, why place the trolling motor across the deck, rather than down the side so you have more space?

Looks absolutely amazing!
What is the max weight rating on that boat? Seems like it's gettin awful heavy. My 14' has a max 0f 315# passengers, and 460# overall
