Hey Stick...if you connect the dots in the peck-hole pattern in pic#2 it draws a picture of the ancient Mayan fishermans early attempts at swimbait construction. Interesting! I think that little guy is trying to tell us something.

Definitely, absolutely, 100% not a Downy. Bill is way too big and the white wing stripe is not present on the Downy. Lighting and angle are difficult, but Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is a possibility.

Here is Downy that came to visit my daughter. haha. The bird was fine...for some reason though it just wanted to hang around the front door, and then later flew off. I didnt see any nest or babies around, probably because it was October though.
