um nothin really special about braid... just make sure you put some mono around the reel for braid or when you are fightin a fish it doesnt wrap around the spool... dont know why it just happens

Like aiken said, no secrets for braid really. But I would put a bit of mono below it to keep it from slipping. As for fluoro, spool it up like mono. I still prefer not to use fluoro on spinning reels. I'd be pissed if 15 dollars worth of fluoro decided to jump of my spinning reel...

Make sure you put enough pressure on the spool when you do braid, especially deep in the spool. Braid has a tendency to dig into itself.

Ya....baitcasters are pretty straight forward...keep a little tension on the line and spool away....spincasters....I like Kevin's video too....

I noticed that the Abu Garcia Spinning reels SORON's have two rubber O rings to help hold the line in place. I've heard others say to use double sided tape to help prevent slipping.
I already knew about the loading line on a spinning reel, cool video by the way, I just wanted to know the popular way to secure fcarbon and braid to the spool. Thanks for the info. |

with braid on spinning reels i've found that after spooling on new braid if you'll go out in the boat, and let all the braid out behind the boat travelling at slow trolling speed, then wind it all back on the reel and then let it all out again and reel it all back in without a bait tied on the line then the line won't pack on the spool and works almost flawlessly. braid on spinning reels is the only way to go. no more birds nests, well, almost.

Spooling braid on a baitcaster reel is simple. I have a Berkley spooling station which makes it a easy fast job. 1st tie on any old mono as a backing. I use #10 Andes. I spool it on till I get the bottom 3rd of the spool covered. Then I use a Albright knot to tie on the braid. The braid needs to come off the top of the spool not the bottom. Keep just enought tension on the spool so it lays down right. Too munch tension and you'll have trouble spooling the braidup. I can usually get to reels out of a spool of braid this way.
I also use the spooling station for my spinning reels. I also use a mono backing for the bottom 1/3 of the spool. Only this time I make sure that the line comes off the bottom of the spool. Make sure you leave a min of a 1/8th of a inch from the top of the spools lip to the top of the braid on the spool. Over filling will cause all sorts of problems.
