Default Favorite Techniques

I was just wondering if you guys would list your favorite lure and technique to give me some new things to try this year.

Favorite: Pig N' Jig. Just started using them this year, AND THEY PRODUCE! I haven't caught too many on them (yet), but when I need a fish in the boat, the PNJ seems to do it for me. Fish it real slow (Spring/Fall/Winter) along the drop-offs, or "ripping" it hard off the bottom (Summer). I really want to give it a try flippin' it into heavy cover with a tube trailer, and dragging it along beds for Spawners...

By far our most prductive lures last year were crankbaits. Especially the Bandit 100 in Bluegill. I got some DT's to try out this summer and I can't wait.

I do love Rattletraps too.

Be careful, the DT's have brittle lips. Works your arms damn hard, too.

Great, I'm good at breaking lips, I broke three Storm Wee Wart lips in one day.

That's another reason why Bandit Cranks are freakin' awesome!

I had never fished frogs until last year and by the time I figured out the proper equipment and presentation the bite was over. So, this year will be the year of the frog for me.

Also, started doing more carolina rigging last year and really liked that application, those fish wanted to jerk the rod right out of your hands sometimes.

Not when you use a reel with a low ger ratio. I throw smaller deep runners on a 5:1 and the big, deep cranks like a DD-22 on a 4.7:1. The lower gear ratio makes a huge difference.

Back to the original question:

In no particular order: Weightless soft plastic, i.e. Senko, crankbait, jig, tube, spinnerbait.

Truth be told, though, my favorite technique is whatever works.

weightless rigged superfluke in bubblegum, fish like jerkbait with intermediate pauses and quick jerks...huge producer this past year! The weight of the 4 inch is almost perfect sinks just below the surface...next year is the jig..hard to master but some of the biggest fish came off the jig

The Shaky Head, Carolina Rig, Super Fluke, and Spinnerbait were my most productive baits last year.

I'd have to say spnnerbait is my number one, closely followed by using crankbaits. My third favorite would probably be surface baits, such as a banana shaped spook type bait or a floating Smithwick Rattlin Rouge worked at the surface.
