1994 175 Evinrude Intruder with a Bad Cylinder
My search for a decent Bass Boat has led me to a 1995 Ranger in Mint Condition.
Problem is the motor - a 1995 Evinrude 175hp has a bad cylinder. Lower unit is good. Not being a mechanic, what am I lookin at in terms of $$$. Asking price for boat motor and trailer is 7000.00 Like I said earlier Boat (Hull and Transom) and Trailer are mint.....but not the motor. Any help or guidance is most appreciated. bobby Oopps - Motor is also a 1995 Evinrude Intruder 175hp not a 1994. bobby |

The only info I have is that the Intruder is a killer good outboard if you get that cylinder fixed. Probably my favorite outboard aside from a new e-tec. We have a 150 on my Dads boat and it is a 92 model and still run like a scalded dog, and has never had ANY work done to it aside from plugs and wires... even the power pak has lasted 18 years...
We are gonna have it tuned up over the winter... bet it gets even better with the carbs cleaned out... What model ranger is in question here? Because it could be a good deal even with a bad cylinder if it is the right model boat... |

Hi Walker
The Ranger is a 1995 - 482V It would be a good fit for me - just the engine repair cost bothers me. bobby |

Heres a Pic - Ignore the Date - it's incorrect.

According to NADA average retail on the 95 482V hull is $3,720.00. Retail on motor (working) if I have the correct Mod# is $1,245.00.

We have a blown Intruder, a 1994 175 hp on our boat, try replacing with even an older motor for $1245.00. I'm getting frustrated trying to find a motor within reason.

Seems like 1245 would be a good start on a rebuild.
