invisible red?
Im pretty knew to fishing so this may be a dumb question. I keep hearing that the red line is invisible once under water, or at least fish cant see it.At the same time i hear that the bleeding hooks and baits trigger preditor fish like the bass to bite. So the bass can see the red hooks and skirts but not the red line?

Yeah I think there was a thread on this a while back not sure if you could find it using the search... but basically the light spectrum under water makes red colors dissapear at a certain depth before other colors. With that in mind just because it is underwater doesn't mean its invisible. I personally used the cajun red for a year on a few of my rods. I still caught plenty of fish, but quite honestly in my opinion if your going for an invisible line get yourself a good spool of flourocarbon.

I don't believe any of that crap, but if it gives you more confidence then it is worth it.

the red line is translusent and light can filter through the plastic, hense when down to 10 to 12 feet, the light filters red out first... as for the hooks, the hooks have a matte finish and the light reflects off the hook, making it shine...

Welcome to the forum, Joe!
I've often wondered the same thing-doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? Actually, it kind of does. I can tell you first hand as a scuba diver red is the first color to fade at depth, but the key word here is depth. Most of the baits you ise red hooks on are fished maybe fifteen feet or less. At that depth red is still visible. When you get deeper is when it turns to gray.

I see power pro now makes braid in red. you can guarentee it'll be the next spool of line I buy/spool.

the red line is translusent like rrw said so it become see thru, light penetrates the line making it invisable. the hooks are matalic and reflects light so you can see them at all times, same as the paint on the baits.

I tried the Cajun Red Lightning and it did seem to be invisible but i only got bites with the line when i was fishing in about 10-20 feet of water. IMO, fluorocarbon is better, it has more abrasion resistence and has less stretch.

I've got some of this stuff and it works pretty good but as far as invisible I don't know.....I think I'd have to fish with someone day in a day out to seem if it has any play in how many bites I get......probably flourocarbon would be the best.....don't really know till yah give it a try however.

Went pan fishing last week with son to Merill Creek.
Used 6 pound cajun red line on ultra light rod Used trout magnet covered in Hawg Sauce. This guy came to the party. Used the cajun red on light tackle for a couple of years, like it a lot. Used the power pro red, 1st spool just blew up on my baitcaster reel, same spool blew up on my sons baitcaster. Replaced the line with 2nd spool of ppred and have had no problems, line taken off the baitcasters I put on two spinning reels, have had no problems with those reels. Hope the picture comes through. Oh as a side note, I started a thread a year or so about red line and had some information from the makers. See rebs reply it is correct as are some others just can't recall all the names Sorry!
