Florida has shallow water. One of the big lakes I fish averages 15 feet. Ihave been fishing points that fall off into 16, 18, and 21 feet. Also ditches where they have sucked sand up to build up the back yards of houses. Some of these ditches are 12 foot deep, that is go from 4 and 6 foot to 12 foot. These ditches may run as far out as 150 feet from shore. They may only be 6 to 12 foot wide and there may be several next to each other. Usually I fish shallow to deepand then across them. You must really maintain contact with your lure as you pull/bounce it down to deeper water. I am using drop shot/ 1/4 oz., original slider, 1/4 oz, and the good ole Texas rigged worm, 1/4 oz. all on 10 # test line. Haven't had any luck with crankbaits.
Just keep fishing that underwater structure, after a while it will all come together in your mind and you will visualize it with no problem. |
