Default The future of Sonar

Just killing time on the computer researching what the future of recreational sonar might be capable of. I doubt I'm the only one that has imagined a unit that would simply make the water disapear. Maybe a light weight headset type of thing with a heads up display. If the gov or black ops needed that capability I'm sure the guys at MIT would love that kind of challenge. In the meantime here's some more current food for thought.

The high end expensive units are already better than an underwater camera in many respects.
Helmet views, heads up displays yup possible, also same problem fighter jocks have with right eye dominance, making a few million dollar display useless.
But nice dreaming.
Acquire a target, fire off a jitterbug, fire and forget, skill is in learning the electronics.
I would be sol.
