Well I could hear Brittney Spears saying oops I did it again, but it was my first time for the BC. I met a buddy a few days ago for a day of fishing. We met at the ramp and laid everything out and in the water she went. I parked the truck and came down to the pier and jumped in. My buddy turns to me asked, hey, you got the plug in. And I says nope, he says you chittin' me, I says nope. I threw my shirt off and pulled the plug out of my pocket and reach down the transom and think unless your arms grew 4', this ain't happening. So I kick the bilge on and throw him the keys and run back up to the truck. Get her back trailered with about 8" of water in the bottom. The lake wasn't big enough to plain and drain....yes I have done that with a previous boat. But after draining a couple of minutes we were back in the water and fishing. We managed 8 or 9 a piece though so the day wasn't ruined with the thought of my kitty getting submerged.

HA! that happens to the best of us - yep, I've done it. But it's an easy correction and doesn't cause any permanent damage, well maybe it puts a small dent in your ego, but it's usually funny - after the fact. Sounds like you had a good day, got to show off the boat and a day on the water with a buddy is priceless. Kitty won't sink, and a wet kitty is much better than a dry kitty............ Wait, that somehow sounds perverted............

It can be done, out on the water.. that is reaching way down the back of your transom to install drain plug. It took me having to dunk the side of my face and stretch like I've never stretched before..

Done it with every boat I have owned. One time after being distracted by a guy asking 20 questions I reloaded the boat halfway on the trailer real quick. Water was shooting out the drain plug hole and my customers where right behind me. I turned and said real calm like "Needed to clean the bildge" and the customer said "Good idea"..
Hook line and sinker. Capt Mike

I believe if any one of us said they have never done that, they be laying. hahaha
Once the wife and I went fishing, and I always put the drain plug in myself. Well she said I did everthing, and I said everthing, she said yes. So off we go, we are fishing for about 15min. and we decide to change location, I trim her down, and hit the throttle, the nose of the boat went straight up in the air so much it almost flipped over on us. I looked at her and said, did you put the plug in, and she no, I thought you did, she got up and open the battery box, water was about at the bottom of the batteries. Thank god the Avalanche did not sink that day!! And to this day we both ask twice if the plug is in. LOL |

That is funny, Bubba. Glad it all worked out ok. So far I haven't had that problem, but we've only owned a boat for 4 years and we only put it in the water once a year at the beginning of the season. Then it's either in use or sitting on the lift at our cabin for the next 6 months before it hits the trailer again at season's end. I probably just jinxed myself for next April.

There are only 2 kinds of boat owners: them that have, and them that will. I am in the "them that have" group
