Boat Stuff
Well as most of yall know i've almost got my boat togeather.. i've got to get the gear accumulated so can yall kinda compile a little list of stuff i've gotta get for the boat so i can progressively get it as i get closer to the water date? [YEAHHHHHHH]
I know the basic stuff like Flares Life jackets one per person Paddle Whistle Boat Reg. Drivers Licence at least one baitcasting and spinning combo.. and tackle box.... My dad said its gunna take some time in the boat before he'll let me loose in it, so he or one of my grandpas will have to be with me for the first few hours in it. but hopefully by the end of the summer anthony and i will be able to go fishin in it.

Is the motor elec. start? If so, jumper cables should you need to jump off the trolling motor batttery.
Running lights. Spare spark plugs. Consider a can of ether or carb cleaner (its against the outboard book, but might be better than getting stuck) Anchor can be made from a bucket, concrete and a eyebolt with a big nut and washer. Might as well embrace your southern heritage and make a redneck anchor. Get an account on ebay and look for deals. Used stuff will get you through youth. You might even have a boat junkyard in your area. Those places are gold mines for fishermen who have to do it cheap. I know we have one nears guntersville that I look forward to visiting as much as bass pro.

One thing to think about is getting a boater safety certificate. I know in Michigan you need one. Also, it will help ease pop's mind when you're out there knowing that you have one....

I would highly recommend at least a small first aid kit of some sort and also some sunscreen.

Make and post it on your boat a list of things to check when you get to the ramp before you put the in the water.
1-drain plug in 2- straps off 3- life jackets and other safty gear out 4-trolling motor plugged up and working anything like this you can think of. Put it where you'll see it everytime you get ready to unload the boat.

Rope. In case you have to tow someone in or get towed in. Waterproof bags. I always have some spare clothes in the boat just in case. Pants, maybe a sweatshirt or jacket, hat or stocking hat, tennis shoes, rain suit. You never know when you may get wet! Keep some extra trolling motor rope also. If that breaks and you don't have any it makes for a trying day. I also have a spotlight in case i get caught out after dark. Any tools you may need.
