No more speedo Mercury issues
I have owned three Mercs and every one has had that wood in skeg pickup issue. So after many years of drilling out the pilot hole I have replaced it. My depth finder has a paddle wheel and my GPS tells me the speed also. So today I yanked that useless guage out and pluged the tube with a screw. I put in a LMF-400 multi-guage and hooked my depth finder/gps/marine radio/fuel meter so they can share info.
But as any project goes I broke the master power switch and will need to go to the store to replace it before water testing. But wired up it works great.. Always one little thing in every project. Next I build a connector for the motor computer..somewhere over the rainbow..Haha Capt Mike
