power trim question
Hey everyone
Does anyone know what could make a power trim motor go out on a newer boat? My trim is blowing fuses every time I touch it. I took it to a mechanic but I hope it is not a sign of what is to come. .

normally when you blow fuse it a dead short or loose ground. may be all it needs is to have the wire tighten down

most newer engine's trim pump is controlled by two relays. one for up and one for down. pull the connectors off the relays and check to see if there has been over heating. if so, it will be easy to see as there will be some melting or discoloration either on the terminals of the relay or on the plug itself. the is the best place to start. if not there start checking the wiring going to the trim pump, and also the trim switch on the throttle.
hope these tips will help you chase it down. bo |
