Mercery motor help.
I finally found a used motor for my boat. Its a 75-79 mercury 4.5hp outboard. I am looking for someone in the northwest Indiana/ southwest michigan area that can point me in the direction of a person that can check out this motor and see if they can get it running. The guy said he will sell it to me for $50 and I dont have to pay him until I know that it will run ( he is getting divored and needs to unload some toys). It does need the part where the gas line hooks upto the motor and he said that it ran 2 years ago but has not ran it since. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are somewhat mechanically inclined you can do this safely yourself. The little kicker motors are pretty simple and usually dont need anything more than a good dose of Seafoam upon the first fire up. Of course you willl need to watch for the water pimp to make sure its working and change out the lower unit gear lube. If you wanna save yourself some money and do it yourself gimme a holler and I will walk you through it.

Thank you for the offer 1fastlaser, however I got the number off of the motor and it is a 75 and they dont make parts so unfortunatly I am going to have to pass on this motor. I had to get it running and pay all of that money and then they dont make parts anymore. Someday I will have a motor for my boat.

I got one of those for free from a guy that bought it because it had a 50 horse Merc on it. He wanted the Merc for his boat and didn't need the game fisher.
