Boat Needed?
Hi everyone,
Hey, I have a question. I recently heard from somebody that for bass fishing you need a boat otherwise it's pretty much impossible to catch anything. Would you agree on this? I don't have a boat and I've only been a couple of times out at a water reservoir near my home. To me, it seems like the guys with the boats cast at shore and those at shore cast to the middle of the lake. Without a boat it's impossible to catch bass? Thank you for your answers. Luis |

I am by no means an expert at bass fishing, but I have had good success from shore, routinely catching 3 or 4 pounders with topwaters and spinnerbaits. I would think that it has a lot to do with the characteristics of the places that you fish, and maybe others here can confirm this. I have had good success in my area by casting as close to parallell to the weedlines as I can and just letting them see the bait. Although my favourite lake is very shallow throughout and has very weedy shoreline where the baitfish hang out. Not much help, I know, but wanted to let you know that bass can be caught from shore.

Nope. Biggest bass I ever caught came out of a stock tank that was about 75 yards long and 35 yards wide. A boat sure allows you a lot more places to fish, but you don't need one.

That's what I thought, but I'm new at this that's why I asked yu guys. You culd help me better.
As I said, it seems like those in a boat, being farther out in the water, aim at the shore and those at the shore aim at the center of the lake. Where the boat guys are. Ironically. Thanks for your answers. |

me and fishinfurtune use a paddleboat often, and catch way more fish than off shore. but it probably depends on your lake. the reason its good for us is because we take the boat where its impossible to fish from shore, thus reaching more bass in small spots. but ive cought some nice bass from shore.

Not needed, but it helps on bigger lakes. I pond hop alot, and also get my boat out on reserciors and lakes. Look into a jon boat, if you don't want to spend $10,000+ on a bass boat.
