Default Fall Bite

I have been waiting for fall to kick the hot lazy bass back into feeding mode, stockpiling lots of goods in anticipation. After a few cool nights recently, I was hoping the dead sea would come to life today. Epic fail. Earlier today, I called BPS to ask a question about a reel i was interested in, and then mentioned the recent colder days and nights, said I was going out after work, and the BPS rep mentioned that I would be going out a day too early. I wondered how could he know the temps of the lake I was going to.

It looks like he was right. I got skunked. I am sure there is a formula involving water and air temps but I thought today would work even though I am working a reservoir where the colder water gets drained, skewing the data. But its still going to happen sometime in the reservoirs, right? I remember hearing Bill Dance saying something about 20 degree temp drops for 3 straight days being the kick off to the fall feeding frenzy.

Anyone want to share what they know about when the fall bite kicks in, and maybe throw your go to Fall lures into your post, that would be appreciated.
