Okay, Need Expert Help:)
Hi all!
We are trying to find out how much we should offer for a 1985 Cimmaron Bass Boat. It has a 50hp Mercury on it. Any thoughts? It's a deceased family member's boat and he loved fishing. We want to be fair, and his wife will get the proceeds. We just want to be fair. |

How long has it been out of the water and unused? I am guessing between 1800 and 2500 bucks, but thats a guess.

It's been sitting since 2000. Since he's gone, we aren't even sure if the motor is good. We are in MI and the boat is in AL. You would think someone could do an easy test to see if it would even fire up. No dice as of yet. Thank you for your reply!

Sight unseen with a questionable motor. i would offer this suggestion. Ask her what she would be willing to accept for the boat. Explain the condition is a concern, and that you would like to make her an offer, but are not sure because of condition.
In most cases like this as long as both parties are happy with the arrangemement, its a good deal no matter what the final price is.

I tried that! She (my mom, who is handling everything) said "Honey, just be fair". Hence my question. But for the fact that all of the $ goes to his wife, in our family, if someone wants something, it's theirs. Not the case this time. Thanks for the imput. On a side note, we went fishing yesterday and my hubby caught a bass! It was little and it's not bass season here, but it was so nice to get back out fishing!!

As Zooker said, a sitting motor is much worse than one that has been driven hard IMO. Plus, there will have to be some maintenance down to the trailer before you hook it up in AL and bring it back to Michigan. I would want to put new tires on it if there was any doubt and at least check the bearings. Sitting 7 years is not good on them either.
I would say not knowing the motor status, $1500 at the most.
