500 or slightly more would cover a used one, just be hard to find
The stearing setup you dont want is over 700 and its ment for boats doing like 60 or under, around 800-850 for the good one with the right cyl . Then theres the install, brand type fittings like evinrude, merc, etc and some wheels just wont accept the kit, must be why they sell a wheel as well. Some times the fun just begins when you get one. Mine is or came with my boat, buy one with it if at all possible, eliminates the torque of a prop running surfaced, could steer with fingers at 80mph,wouldnt advise that but possible.Any boat that even with torque tab turned runs into a wall and cant turn left at over 60 will benefit.Like the difference between an old truck made in 51 and power steering. An old racing trick is a bungee cord from left side of boat to back of motor. |
