Lepomis macrochirus !
Accidentally caught a couple of gills while cranking and decided to go with the flow and toss a beetlespin at um. There's just something about the tenacity of a 1 lb brim that tickles me and earns my respect. Musta caught 2 dozen of these rascals before some breaking bass forced me to return to the original plan.

Those can be fun especially on light gear.

Can't ever complain about bream! Bass fishing's was kinda crappy yesterday so I switched over a crappie, caught dozen or so before heading home!

Yeah can be a ball, the bass we pursue so much is member of same family, major difference is female bass grow larger and male sunfish are the big boys not the female.
Get one on on say spinning gear the fight is like you had a bass on. We not only have some large gills here but shellcrackers and pumkinseed over a 1lb. I accidentally catch those tossing 1/2 oz spinnerbaits. Had a rockbass 2 years ago almost measured 12 in had it of done so would have taken it in and argued some kind of weird spot, much like a smallie. |
