Transom Replacement
Got a question for anyone willing to answer.
Someone gave me a boat this weekend. This is what I got: 18' Larson cruiser 85 HP Johnson o/b Foot control trolling motor (Bill Dance Edition) All of this was on aluminum boat trailer. The only problem with it is the top half of the transom is rotten, and I'm sure the bottom half isn't too far from it. Has anyone on here had any type of experience with the pourable transom stuff, or do I just need to look at rebuilding it with wood? I have never replaced a transom before, and am researching all that I can about it. |

Re: Transom Replacement
BOOGER,
I replaced a transom many years ago with a build up of exterior grade plywood and fiberglass mat. However, If I was doing it again, I would locate a fiberglass firm that has a chopper gun system and have them blow in a new transom after I removed all the plywood. That would never rot and would be strong as hell. JackL |

zooker[/quote] It is a 1969. I know it is old, but that is the only problem with the boat itself. |

Re: Transom Replacement
Yeah, it was nice. It belonged to a lady whose husband left her. When he left, he left the boat sitting in the yard, and never came back to get it. Now he is in the nursing home about to pass away, and she is getting rid of all the stuff he left sitting around in the yard.
