as zook said, weightless. But as long as you do that there is almost no way to fish it wrong. Soft jerkbaits are quickly becoming my favorite lure. You can fish them fast twitching it just below the surface, you can fish it extremely slowly just off the bottom, I've even caught a number of bass deadsticking a superfluke. I'd suggest green pumpkin, I've caught a lot of bass on that particular color.

I concur, almost no wrong way to fish it. Usually I will rig it tex-posed and give a series of twitches, pause, twitch, twitch, pause, etc. While keeping it just below the surface. And as Hula said "dead sticking" can be deadly.

I love working them (or other soft jerkbaits) over and through surface weeds, and letting them sink at the edges or in holes within the weedbed.
You can also retrieve them steadily on matted vegetation, such as duckweed. Sometimes they'll strike it, and other times they'll miss it, but create a hole in the weeds into which you can toss a followup, either with the Fluke or another soft plastic. Another thing that will work is to walk the dog with them on the surface. I just about always fish them weightless. |

Re: What is the best way to fish a fluke?
Just tonight Iwent fishing on a lily pad choked corner of a lake by my house, and I was throwing a superfluke rigged weedles onto the pads and just brought it across the top of them. then I'd stop it in a whole and twitchit on the way day and let it sit for a secondor two. Then I'dcrank it back on top of the pads and repeat. I got a 2 1/2lb bass on that.

Re: What is the best way to fish a fluke?
I prefer to fish mine fairly fast. I texpose it with a 4/0 Red Wide Gap hook, and give it A series of 4 twitches and a pause. I also try to make mine jump out of the water frequently to imitate a spooked shad.
I will also C-Rig it occasionally, to give the fish something different. Charles |
