Re: flipping and pitching
cajun and lizards
i normally don't pitch i never flip but there are times when i just can't get a lure -spinnerbait mostly-in to an area. i will pitch it in there no problem. use this mostly round docks. i still anit refined my presention on entering the water. spinner bait almost never enters the water silently. zooker

Re: flipping and pitching
When I do pitch now, it's usually with a med action spinning rod, 10 lb test line, and a slider worm.
Back when I was working at the tackle shop, I used to practice pitching for hours at a time. I'd cut the bottom out of a 2 liter soda bottle and move it around the store and pitch a jig into that cup. Got pretty good at it, so I started to put a chair over top of the cup. That's a new ball game. I guess I never found much use for the two techniques around here. Most of our lakes and rivers dodn't have the type of cover where it's necessary. |

Re: flipping and pitching
isn't it a little risky to pitch crankbaits around cover?

Re: flipping and pitching
You'd be surprised what a crankbait will come through if you take your time. As for getting them IN there, it goes back to that old "practice, practice, practice" deal.
Yep. You will get hung up sometimes, but sometimes you'll be hung in a fishes jaw. |

Re: flipping and pitching
If you don't fish the structure or cover, you aren't fishing. I've tossed a crankbait into places I wouldn't pitch a worm.
