My 150 is jumping while in reverse. Not while putting it in reverse that is simple. This happens while I'm trying to go backwards.
This happens weather it's hot or cold. |

The motor tryes to jump. Kinda like it's hitting something on the bottum.
Normally won't do it while going super slow. Only when you try and speed it up. (in reverse) Zook, I'm thinking of what you sayed about the gears. I'll deal with that until I get the money to have it repaired. |

BASSMAN,
It may just be in the adjustment of the shift controles. It may just be barely ctching the reverse pawl, but still not enough to lock up totally. Another possibility is that water has gotten into the bottom end and rusted the bearings, which have come apart and allow slippage. I think you need to have it checked before it costs you $1500 for a new lower unit. JackL |

Yea. I'd get it checked or it won't be doing it much longer.

Jackl,
The shift controls was also mentioned by a friend of mine. The boat is in the shop now, and I mentioned this to the mechanic. He sayed that he would take a look, also stated that those things must be just right to perform correctly. The constant beep that occured was from the motor overheating. Man I hope I get out without having to pay out the ying yang. |

Turns out that it was the shift linkage out of alignment.
Thanks all. |
