Re: hot weather bass fishing
In this type weather I elect to fish at night. The bite is usually a little shallower and the heat and boat traffic a lot less un-nerving. If you live on a lake that is deep like most in Tennessee you will find that the lake will set up a thermocline during very hot weather. The fish, especially smallmouth and walleye will be just above or in the thermocline. During the hottest part of the summer at Norris that depth is usually 28 to 30 feet deep. The fish will usually be 25 to 30 feet once this temperature cline sets in. You can see the thermocline with your LCR if you turn the gray line and sensitivity all the way up. It will look like a cloudy area. You will also notice the fish will be congreagated at that depth . You can still catch some fish at shallower depths but the best fish will concentrate there. The fish will rarely be below the thermocline. This will not occur if your lake has a lot of current like a river run lake or if the lake is shallow. The lakes I am talking about have a lot of 150 to 200 foot water. Fish2win

I find that you can do well with slow baits like rubber worms or jigs on real hot summer days. I work deep water. With steep drops. I catch most of my hogs in mid to late summer. Just take your time and work every angle of a deep hole......

Try fishing milfoil on top of the surface with a rat. It offers shade. Unlike most people think many bass stay shallow. Its also a fun way to catch them.

Fish deep water structure with soft plastics t-rig and c-rig, jigs and some deep cranks.

Re: hot weather bass fishing
I ride my bike just about everywhere I go fishing, so when I go during the summer, its only in the morning and evening. But typically as it heats up, I fish slower baits in deep water or find shadow.
