line fraying, help
Like I said, I like to fish the ocean, and one of the problems I experience is that every time I hook up with a big Kingfish or some other drag-smoking game, the line frays like crazy!!
I have my drag set right, and have very decent line, but cant stop the line from being frayed. What do I do to prevent this? thanks, seaphantom |

Re: line fraying, help
You could pour a little water on reel.this might help it from getting as hot. Also, if u are not useing it, switch to a good braid, like Power Pro. I have hooked rockfish(stripers) and not had any problems.

Re: line fraying, help
on salt water rigs check the tip roller and guides i have had mono fray before specilly with big kings-no rock will ever match the speed of a king or a whoo-check the spool sides on the reel as this may be causing it. also use reel majjic spray on the line it really helps reduce the frition.
