Battery question
How long should a battery last? My two fishfinders and livewell are connected to my cranking battery and it seems like it runs down in approx. 20-30 minutes to a level that doesn't allow me to crank my motor. The battery isn't a year old yet. The boat is a '04 Stratos 285 Pro XL with a 150 Yamaha Vmax. It has an Exide Nauticus battery. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. ???

Re: Battery question
Does it need water? I truly have no idea on the Exide Nauticus, but I quit buying any batteries that need water added.
1. They are a Pain in the @@@@ 2. You can really mess up some stuff if the water/battery acid gets on anything. 3. Everstart has made a quality battery, that lasts more than 2 days at a time, without ever needing to add water, that I've had for 2 years on my trolling motor. I would think your battery is either bad, or needs water? Or you could possibly have a short? And lastly is you motor actually recharging it when it's running. It's always best to recharge batteries asap after using them, but if it's connected to the motor, it shouldn't need to be recharged on a regular basis if it's charging when running. Lizards |

Re: Battery question
I checked the water level and it is fine. My volt meter on the console shows that is is charging.
Since I fish most all year, is there any way that the cold weather last winter could have affected the life of the battery. There was only a couple months that I didn't fish -- december and january. |

Sounds like the Battery is bad if everything else is ok. Lizards |

Re: Battery question
I'm with Lizards-sounds like you may have a bad cell. It shouldn't run down that fast.
