chiming
Can anyone tell me what causes chiming? Can't find it anywhere. A friend of mine bought a new 150 hp merc. and put it on his 18ft alumn. boat. It is rated for that big. Got to 60mph and it started to chime on him. Is the boat to light?

Re: chiming
Hey it's chine walking. Google that and it will bring some stuff up. Personally I don't think that you can eliminate it. You can make it lessen with proper boat setup. Main thing is learn to drive the boat.

You have to learn to drive the boat when it chine walks.I don't know of any remedy except slow down. If there was a steady torque pull in one direction, you can adjust the adjustable skag tab piece above the prop if your motor has one.that or install torque stabilizer fins on it. P N J
