3 Pickeral for every 1 Bass
I just came back from a nice little trip. I caught two bass, and therefore, had to go through six pickeral. I love the fish, it's beautiful, but I cant seem to keep them off my line when I'm going for bass. Anyone find the same problem...especially in NJ.

The only thing I have against them is that they tend to be big bleeders, especially with trebles.
They'll hit what a bass hits. |

We get the occasional cat or crappie or carp, usually about one a season 8)
I have caught several huge blue cats on a spinnerbait by accident on the river and other places Theres a lot of cat fishermen around here that love to take them off your hands |

Re: 3 Pickeral for every 1 Bass
I know hunterdon really well, I used to date someone from there. I've never been fishing there though. I would like to. I am from South Jersey, Exit 3...you know what I mean.
Well, I guess I'll just deal with these pickeral, and try to catch some big ones. I caught a pregnant one one time and it was 4lbs. 4 oz. Amazing fish, especially for around here. I'm going out tommorrow morning. Can't wait. |

Jim,
If you ever get a chance to fish hunterdon, try amwell lake. It is a great fisherie. It has largemouth(what I target), trout, bluegill, catfish, and thats abot it, might be crappie IM not to sure. |

I will definately have to try it. You should come down south Jersey too, lots of bass, pickeral, crappie, perch, trout...you name it. If so, I'll go with ya.

Re: 3 Pickeral for every 1 Bass
Went out yesterday in a small lake, very over grown. Using a Bait Breath Bugsy (you have to try it if you havent used them....tackle warehouse.com) I was using the stop and go retrieve. Before I knew it, I hooked what I thought was a big bass. Nope, it was a pickeral...4.1 lbs. This thing was fat, huge teeth, and feisty. I love it when they get that big, they are so much fun. Caught a few bass too, but didnt weigh in as much as the pickeral. Good day!!!!
