I've got a 24V, 82 lb thrust Motorguide Tour Edition. The motor is stuck down and will not retract no matter what I do. I started by shaking it, and then by using wedges to even it out. Finally, I got underneath the mount and after hours and hours of cutting the mounting screws and using wedges, was able to get the mount off the deck. I have tried everything, including making sure all the pins are even, standing on it and pulling the rope, using the screwdriver trick on the lower set of pins, etc. One side still won't release, but on the other side, I can actually see the pin come out. Any ideas before I take it to the repair shop? Thanks.

Only thing holding it down is the pin lock the rope went on,some just take a bit more force with the screwdriver, something piece of bark etc gets stuck under it when closed and then locked then takes some force.Try two screwdrivers one each side of the bar.Its just jammed.

If the two runner bars on the outside are bent out from a forward impact they will prevent the center bar from disengaging. Even with the pin forward out of the locking tab. Had this happen with one of my older mounts and the gator mount had a rubber pad that slide back and pinched in the frame rails.. Had to remove side bars and straighten them and the reinstall on the older one.

I have the same one. I have to push down on the shaft and pull the rope. It just started doing this not long ago. Hope it is a simple fix. If I was home I could look and try to dig a little more.

Had the same problem. The pin locking it down shifted over from turning it on/off and would not clear the slot that locked the tm down. Had to use a screwdriver to work it over so I could get the motor up. Tapped it back into position, filed a couple of grooves in it on the opposite side from where it was getting locked to rough the pin up and filled the grooves with JB Weld to keep it from shifting. That worked so far. I also thought about a hose clamp to keep the pin from shifting.
And welcome to the forum!

A guy I fish with has a smiliar TM and the only way to get it up is to do the same thing. Push down on it with your foot and pull rope. Works like a charm every time.
