Soft Bait's
Hey guy's I was reading a book the other day, and something caught my eye. ( yes Zook I CAN READ) LOL
Any way the book had a section on soft baits and mentioned some thing about boiling you baits in water for 30 seconds before going out fishing, said it would loosen them up an make the action better! : Have you ever heard of this being done, Or am I just reading science fiction again? ??? Just thought I would post some thing other than what happend to billy last week! Robbby. |

Re: Soft Bait's
it makes logical sense...however it also seems to me that it could cook some of the SCENT and TASTE out as well.

Re: Soft Bait's
Personally I don't like tohave my baits too soft or else they rip easily and the bass swallow them. This has happened to me a lot with green pumpkin superflukes, they're real soft.

Re: Soft Bait's
I'm guessing they were talking about heavy plastics to make them more pliable, to increase action in the bait.
Who know's it was an american book they are usually wrong! (lol) (joke guy's) Robby. |

Re: Soft Bait's
I was not familiar with boiling baits beforehand to give them better action. Boiling baits has long been recommended as a way to get kinks out of a soft plastic.
I don't imagine I'll be doing the boiling thing because I wouldn't know if they had better action, plus I believe that we have a large choice of excellent baits that will work great right out of the package. |

Re: Soft Bait's
It is possible that it was an older book, could have been back when plastics were a little stiffer.
Maybe we should boil Zook he's an old stiff stick in the mud ;D Robby. |

Ive even heard with a dab of butter and light salt they can be just as good as calimari. I think the quality of stuff today by most manuf. is good out of the bag.

Re: Soft Bait's
well, being the skeptic that I am, I decided to try this for myself. So, I set a pot of water to boil, and after it was boiling dropped a trick worm, brush hog, and a senko in to cook. After 30 seconds I took them out and they were much softer than before, but unless you can do this and start fishing in under a minute or so it won't do you any good. Once they cool they become the same soft plastics they were before, not to mention your kitchen smells like burnt plastic. Good fishing
