Trolling For Bass...???
I just got a boat last winter, and I was out trolling for trout. I was just using a little fire tiger rapala. I thought the water was still too cold for bass. To my suprise I caught 4 bass and one of them was 3 1/2 lbs. Is this a common technique? I was wondering what other baits would work for trolling for bass.

Re: Trolling For Bass...???
oh yeah
used to catch alot of bass while trolling for striper on large bucktail jigs-3/4-1oz-we would thread a 8" opposing colored worm on them. if we were running white buck tail we would use chatruse/homer colored worms. and with a chartuse bucktail a white or tequila sunrise colored worm would work. ribbon tailed worms were all we ever used.-caught a butt load of striper while we were at it... zooker

I have trolled before using a sinking or diving AC shiner,
black and white but to me its no fun its productive for walleye and bass and other species, but to me theres no skill involved except reading a certain depth and reeling in a fish that has been drug by the boat |

Re: Trolling For Bass...???
beg to differ jb. the skill is actually in the lure speed and boat control. boat control is much more critical in trolling than poeple belive.

Re: Trolling For Bass...???
wrong control i was meaning there jb...
what i mean is here in nc you skirt humps and ledges. never moving more than 3 mph. this is areason i tend to fish humps and ledges for bass . finding the depth on a certain day is tougher than it looks as these lake increase and decrease depth on an hourly -at times-pace. i have seen a lake of 35000 acres gain 12" in a single day. zooker
