Re: Just started fishing
Do you know what fish you want? If you post your location, you might find someone who knows your waters.

Re: Just started fishing
Welcome to the asylum. There are lots of knowledgable fisherman on this site. Most of them, at least 99.9% of them will try to point you in the right direction. Keep an eye open on the different postings. Please try not to be too vague. It helps to know what part of the country your from, what type of waters you like to fish, IE: ponds, rivers, lakes etc. For example Robzilla lives in Canada and in the winter he has to drill a hole in the water, oh excuse me the ice. Any way you get my drift.
Just kidding Rob. |

Re: Just started fishing
Howdy Scott, and in case you missed it on the other thread welcome to the forum!
And welcome to the wonderful world of bass fishing! Â*It will get in your blood, believe me-we call ourselves bass addicts and tackle junkies, but it is the best addiction there is! Since you are new, rather than throw out a bunch of stuff that may or may not make sense, here is a link that has a lot of great info for someone starting out: http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html You might check that out, and then I'm sure you will have even more questions, so ask away. Â*The folks here are real friendly and helpful and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Â*And if you think it might be a dumb question-well, when it comes to bass fishing the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked ;D |

Re: Just started fishing
It can be an addiction. Our club is going on a two day tourney to the Delta. Some of the greatest bass fishing bar none. But, on the other hand it can be some of the toughest. The adrenillin is starting to pump and I can't wait till Sat. Scott, I hope you're not married, my wife has been putting up with club tourneys for 25 years.

Re: Just started fishing
LOL> I used to Ice fish. When I first started I didn't have an auger, so I used a splitting mall. My New Father in Laws Brand NEW splitting mall to be exact. LOL>
anyhow, my brother in law and I chopped a hole in the ice, and I stuck the mall in the water Head first to see how deep the water was, cause it looked like it was only about 2 feet, and when I went to take the mall out, my brother in law said something to me, I turned and hooked the head of the mall on the edge of the hole, and lost it in the bottom of the lake, LOL> I hate Ice fishing. LOL> Although I might do some of it this year if I get the new cam. Anyhow, Welcome to the forum Scotty!!!. Good bunch of guys, most of which are VERY knowledgeable. If you listen, you will be catching Hawgs before you know it. ;D |

Check out the articles on this site and past posts. Chances are some of your questions have already been asked and answered in past threads. Most of all don't be afraid to ask questions.

Re: Just started fishing
My bad for not replying i just woke up im not feeling good . But i live in Kenner Louisiana, i live in an apartment complex that has a pond with bass in it.THey have some type of weeds that grow out of the gound but are in the water. Also the bottom is muddy, there are lots of ducks that swim in the pond. The biggest bass reportedto the office was like around 6lbsi think i just moved here there is rocks all around it. It is filtered.Finnally there is a building that is above it with pole that go down into the pond to hold up the buildings.

Re: Just started fishing
Fish those weeds til you can't fish no more. Â*Then when you finish there, move to the rocks until your arms fall off. Â*
Let me give you a word of advice on how to catch anything else in that pond. Â* You say that there are ducks. Â*By my experience with ponds like that with ducks. Â*Use bread for bait!!!!! Â*My brother lived in a complex like that, and I fished it forever with nightcrawlers, and never caught anything. Â*I tried bread one day, and caught a 6 pound channel cat out of it, they only got bigger after that. Â*From that point on, the only thing I ever caught anything decent in there was with bread. Â*I guess it is where the fish are used to people throwing bread in the water to feed the ducks, so they look for it all the time. |
