Well, things haven’t changed much this week at the lake. We missed the rain and the wind blew. Again, the same as last week fishing was up and down as the fronts came and went. This morning as I write this report the out side temp is 36 and will drop before 7 AM. The water temp has been around 61 to 63 degrees. The deep bite has picked up this week with the fronts sending the fish to the bottom. Tail spinners, spoons and Carolina rigs have been Hot this week. Chartreuse pepper was the best color on your Carolina rig. The Lake Fork Baby Ring Fry was my choice. Chartreuse is a good winter color for some reason. This will include spinner baits and crank baits.
Main lake points and humps have been good starting areas. The grass has held some fish early with top water and spinner baits. The Lake Fork Tackle Twitch worm and Zig Zag and the Wave Tiki Stick have been good fished weightless and wacky style over and around grass. The weekend calls for clear on Saturday and rain Sunday. But the way things have gone it will probably miss us again.
This is a time of the year to fish as much as possible as you have a chance of catching a fish of a life time. The state record was caught in November one year.
Fishing a big jig can be slow but very rewarding. Flipping creek channels and bends along with stumps and timber can be your best areas.
I talked to the Parks and Wild Life this week on and issue that everyone should keep in mind. I posted last week about the Sand Bass in the lake. The Parks and Wild Life informed me there is no limit on YELLOW Bass but the SAND BASS the limit is 25 per person and they have to be 10 inches long. So keep this in mind if your out fishing This size and creel limit is also the state limit.
The crappie are starting to show up better and the size are getting bigger. Small jigs and minnows around the bridges and brush piles. 18 to 26 foot has been a good depth to start your search. I have November dates open if you want to book a trip give me a call.
